Written mostly from the FMC POV, but i find my focus more towards the MMC. Will there ever be hope for him? The author has the skill for capturing the complexity of human and emotion, making the characters feel real and engaging.

Shattered Ice is a prequel for Hellebore Fields, and first introduces us to a younger Branwen, through the eyes of Katie Jameson, the girl who came before Tesni. This left my psyche raw long after the last page, and I’d swear author lived inside 17 year old Amees memories because so many of Katie’s thoughts, feelings and justification for Brans actions, were mine at one time. She nailed Katie’s devotion to Bran fighting her survival instincts so completely for me, if you’re sensitive to obsession and possessive characters and situations, prepare. It’s funny how sexy Brans obsessive behaviors were in book 1, but damn he was frightening here in prequel because you lived through Katie’s fears. ... (See review source)
